Video Editor

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit and assemble raw video footage into polished, high-quality content aligned with
    TheMainstream’s brand, voice and visual style.
  • Collaborate closely with the creative/content team (producers, writers, designers) to
    understand brief, storyboard and vision, then deliver final video.
  • Incorporate motion graphics, text overlays, transitions, sound design, colour grading
    and effects as needed to enhance storytelling and viewer-engagement.
  • Optimize video output for different platforms (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook,
    website, etc.) and ensure correct formats, resolutions, captions/subtitles, etc.
  • Maintain organised project files, manage versions, ensure backups and archiving of
    footage and edits.
  • Stay current with video-editing best practices, tools and trends (including social media
    video formats, mobile-first edits, short-form content).
  • Work to deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, respond to feedback and
    iterate on edits.
  • Hands on experience with camera operations, lighting set up, audio recording during
    shoots..
  • Ensure all videos meet TheMainstream’s quality standards and brand guidelines.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience (e.g., 2-5 years or more, depending on level) as a Video Editor or
    similar role.
  • Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects (or
    similar tools like Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
  • Good understanding of motion graphics, sound editing, colour correction/grading.
  • Strong storytelling sense: ability to take raw footage and build a narrative, maintain
    pacing, rhythm and viewer interest.
  • High attention to detail––visual continuity, good timing, clean transitions, error-free
    output.
  • Good collaboration and communication skills: able to work with creative team, accept
    feedback and deliver revisions.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritise tasks, handle multiple projects under tight
    deadlines.
  • A portfolio or show-reel that demonstrates your editing, motion graphics, and
    platform-aware work.
  • Bonus / preferred: experience with social media video formats (short reels, vertical
    video), knowledge of graphic design (Photoshop, Illustrator), experience capturing
    video (camera, lighting, audio) or animations.
